Obituary of Dianna Lee Becerra

Dianna Becerra, age 77, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on May 10th, 2023.  Dianna was born in King City, California on November 17th, 1945, to Bruce and Jennie Whitmire.

Dianna and Alex were married 62 years and had three children, Alex Jr., Victoria, and Louie. Her loving name: SUGAR BABE was given to her by her husband, Alex.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, who friends and all who encountered her will dearly miss.

Dianna was loving, intelligent, kind, and generous.

Dianna lived life to its fullest and valued her relationships with family and friends. She loved traveling, especially with family and friends, and visited the several corners of the globe. She enjoyed many hobbies throughout her lifetime. Alex and Dianna were members of the Salinas Valley Van Club and enjoyed many outings, participating in fundraising events in the community. She was an avid reader, enjoyed ceramic making, and her craft room was always evolving. At the age of 19, Dianna was the first female carrier in Castroville. After retiring as postmaster from 39 years of service, she took up quilting and became very good at that. She quilted baby blankets for the new baby arrivals.

Dianna was preceded in death by her parents, Bruce and Jennie Whitmire; brother, Rick Whitmire and daughter, Victoria Duke.

She is survived by her loving husband, Alex Sr., and two children; eldest son, Alex Jr. and granddaughter, Maricella of Fresno; Son, Louie of Fresno; Grandson, Marcus Martinez of Salinas, grandson and great granddaughter, Joseph Martinez and Evie of San Diego; Brother, Jerry (Karen) Whitmire of Atlanta, Georgia; sisters, Debra (Thomas) Dougan of Ioni, California; Shirley (Richard) Morasca of Pioneer, California; along with numerous nieces and nephews who she adored.

A Memorial Mass will be on Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Refuge Church in Castroville. Her burial will follow at Castroville District Cemetery in Moss Landing.
