Obituary of Alfredo Guerrero Cota, Jr.

Alfredo Guerrero Cota Jr., aged 63, residing in Castroville, CA. passed away from an extended illness in the presence of loved ones. 

Alfredo was born on September 18 1959, in Mexicali, Baja California. He spent his childhood years in Castroville and Salinas remained a Monterey county resident for most of his life.  Alfredo attended Salinas High School before enlisting in the army in service to his country.  He served proudly for the 101st Airborne division.  After his discharge in 1977 his aptitude for automobiles led him to a career as a truck driver before transitioning to another professional passion as a painting contractor. 

In 1983 at the age of 24 he married and went on to have three beautiful children and was a devoted father.  Alfredo lived a full life with stories enough to fill several books.  He was an enthusiastic craftsman with a specialization for antiquing and customizing furniture and cabinets.  Alfredo was a die-hard Dodgers fan and an avid historian with a particular affinity for military history and could go on at length about military strategy regarding many of America’s famous battles.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to Bridge Hospice facility of Salinas and their unyielding compassion. He is preceded in death by his father Alfredo Cota Sr. and survived by his mother; Emma Cota, three siblings; Javier, Carmen and Olga, his children; Anthony, Celsy and Joel, and his 4 grandchildren; Reesy, Danté, Isabella and Charlie.  

A remembrance service will be held at Healey Mortuary in Salinas on Friday June 30 at 11 a.m.  Celebration of Life to follow at his home.  Scattering of his ashes at sea will be determined at a later date and time.
