Obituary of Adolfo Manuel Genilo
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Adolfo "Poe" Manuel Genilo of Salinas, CA, June 29, 2023 at the age of 83 years. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.
Poe was born to Geronimo and Emilia Genilo in Montalban, Philippines on June 25, 1940. He was the third youngest among 10 children. He attended Caloocan High School and FEATI University, where he studied Electronics Engineering. He worked for Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corporation for 37 years. When he moved to Salinas, he was employed by McCormick & Co. and the Monterey Bay Aquarium until his retirement. He had a strong work ethic and always had the ability to get things done.
After his retirement, Poe became the ultimate handyman and completed multiple projects throughout his and his relatives' homes. He also loved watching basketball and was a Warriors fan. Poe was a gifted dancer and loved karaoke. He had a happy and successful life, yet remained very humble. He was loved by all who knew him.
Poe will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years, Lita; his children Arnold (Marichu) Genilo, Kay (Don) Reyes, and Catherine (Joe) Solorio; grandchildren: Alyssa Genilo, Aaron Genilo, and Kyle Solorio; great-grandchild: Alexander Genilo. A sister, Yolly Fernando and numerous other family and friends also survive him.
Visitations will take place for Poe on Wednesday, Aug 2nd from 1-5 pm (Rosary at 3 pm) and Thursday, Aug 3rd from 1-5 pm (Rosary at 2 pm) at Healey Mortuary. His Funeral Mass will be Friday, Aug 4th at 10 am at Madonna Del Sasso Church in Salinas followed by burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Prunedale.To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Adolfo Genilo, please visit Tribute Store
