Obituary of Esperanza Hernandez Placencia

Esperanza Placencia, age 94, passed away peacefully in the company of her family on Sunday August 27th, 2023. She has been taken to be with our Lord for eternity. She was a resident of Castroville CA for the last 50 years.

Esperanza was born on July 11, 1929 to Cipriano and Lorenza Hernandez, in Zacoalco de Torres, Jalisco, Mexico. She became a US citizen at the age of 69. She gave birth to 11 children whom she raised with all her love. Dedicated her life to working in Agriculture and retired at the age of 65. After retiring she spent most of her time raising farm animals, fruits and vegetables. She has a beautiful garden of plants and roses that she cared for. She loved preparing meals for her family especially on special occasions. She was a devoted Catholic and firm believer of Jesus Christ. She would always said good-bye to her children and all visitors with many blessings that will truly be missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ignacio Placencia, sons Feliciano and Martin Placencia, and numerous grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, María del Pilar Gonzalez, Maria Placencia, Timoteo Placencia, Nicolaza Placencia, Aurelia Placencia, Guadalupe Bravo, and Olga Placencia. Has 50+ grandchildren, 45+ great grandchildren, and numerous great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held, Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 12 - 5 PM at the Healey Mortuary, 405 N. Sanborn Rd., Salinas

A Rosary will begin at the Mortuary Chapel Wednesday at 3:00 PM.

Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 9:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Salinas

Burial will follow at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Salinas
