Richard Humphrey

Obituary of Richard Lee Humphrey

September 3, 1944 was a very special day for the Humphries living in Los Banos, Calif. A spunky baby boy Richard Lee was born and joined his 2 year old sister Elaine. He passed away in Salinas, Calif. on December 6th.

Much happened in the mean time…He grew up in Merced where he graduated from Merced High School in 1962. He went on to the University of Arizona where he became a Pharmacist. He is still affectionately called Senator a position his class voted him in. A year after graduating he traveled to many countries. In Scotland he and 2 friends golfed at the oldest world famous St. Andrews. Colorado was one of his favorite destinations for his skiing passion. Richard was from a musical family where he loved playing the Banjo, Guitar and Piano and spent hours with a 3 member band. He also enjoyed following college basketball, March Madness, and the Warriors, working in his extensive garden, traveling up the Oregon coast with Donna, and working out with his special Yoga friends.

He is survived by his partner Donna Davenport of Salinas, his daughter Lee Buehner, 4 grandsons: Victor, Nickolas, Zachariah, and Damian Morse, his 3 great grandchildren, and sister Elaine Pitts of Dublin. He also adored Donna’s family with 2 Granddaughters Maddy and Olivia.

He is greatly respected and loved by his family and friends and will be remembered for his music, laughter and wisdom. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Richard’s favorite charity the Salvation Army or the charity of your choice.
