Obituary of Gukjae Franklin Colston

Gukjae, [Koo-jay] Franklin Colston was born in Ft. Ord, California on August 31, 1962, to DaSun and Clyde Franklin Colston. Gukjae passed away peacefully at home in Salinas, at the age of 61.

Gukjae spent most of his life in Monterey County, with his 4 siblings. He grew up enjoying music, sports, motorcycles, and cars. Growing up in Seaside, he played pop-warner football and used to DJ local parties. Although he chose to forgo traditional school, he was known to be gifted and talented in many ways. While working at his family's body shop, Gukjae formed an interest in painting cars and became a skilled painter and body-fender man. However, Gukjae could fix anything mechanical or electrical. His talents extended to starting a computer repair business called Jae's Computers.

Although he was tough as nails, Gukjae was one of the kindest souls on the planet, who tried to find good and/or humor in every situation. He valued the simpler things in life and faced his challenges with strength and courage. He taught himself Hebrew and Aramaic languages and was a man of faith. He sought to show his children the importance of family, hard work, and doing what is right.

He is survived by his children: Gukjae Colston II, Alisia Colston, Jessica Colston, Monica Colston, Alex A. Colston, his grandchildren: Jaelen Colston, Mia Colston, Damian Colston, Steven Dozal, Samuel, Dozal, Sebastian Dozal, Noah Colston, Isabella Holbrook, Brianna Thomas, Aaron Aguilar, Leenah Jones, Destin Jenkins, and his Siblings: Jeannie Murrey, Myra Walker, Bobby Colston, and Alex B. Colston. Gukjae was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Franklin Colston, and mother, DaSun Colston, and niece Suenay Walker.

He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
