Obituary of Darlene LaVerne Coughran

Darlene L. Coughran of Salinas, CA took her flight to Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, March 1, 2024 after a long illness and brief hospital stay at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 1 day.

She was a native of Fresno, CA; born the 4th of 5 children to Rev Murrell F and Margaret L. Coughran. During her lifetime, she lived in Fresno, Berkley, Castroville, Seaside, Campbell and Sacramento before settling in Salinas. She graduated from Campbell High School in Campbell, California and received her CNA certificate in Sacramento.

Darlene loved Senior Citizens and worked in healthcare her entire career softly and sweetly serving the elderly. After retiring with disability, she continued to befriend seniors, serving them any way she could.

Darlene was a gift-giver and she used her hobbies to create gifts of embroidery and crochet. She loved making gifts to present to her many friends and family members. She even expressed her desire to “give” in her advanced directive by giving “The Gift of Life” through tissue donation through the Donor Network.

Her Church affiliations include Echoes From Calvary Church, Celebration, and the former Oak Park Community Church. While unable to attend services for 7 years, Darlene dearly loved her Church family and continued to feel a part of her Church community. She cherished each call, visit, card and gift given to her over the years.

She is survived by her sister, Donna L. Forbes, of Salinas; her brother, Cecil Coughran of Foster City; her sister and brother-in-law, Kevin and Eva Bevill of Raymore, Missouri and her foster sister, Dalana Mabry of Ventura, CA and many beloved nieces and nephews.
