Obituary of Richard Gonzales Fortes

RICHARD G FORTES

March 15, 1953 - March 15, 2024

 

    Richard was born at the former Clark Air Base in the Philippines.  In 1969,  he migrated to the Unites States to join his family in California.  He was an Alumni at Gonzales Union HIgh School and also attended Hartnell College.  

    Like his father,  Richard decided to join the US Army.  From the time he enlisted in 1977 thru 1989, he served as a Senior Wheeled Mechanic and as a Driving Instructor, as secondary.  He was a diligent, hardworking and a generous man.  

    Richard lived 55yrs of his fulfilling life in Salinas.   A man with a big heart, well loved by his friends and family, especially by Jennifer, Sean, Sophia, Sevan and Angela.  

    He is survived by his childhood friend..who eventually became his wife..the love of his life for 42 years, Helen Nimuan Fortes.  He is also survived by his siblings, Rudy Fortes of Coachella, Florence Fortes of Salinas, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

    His passing was a great loss that brought deep sadness to everyone.  

   As his wife Helen, whispered...Rest in Peace now,  we love you and we will miss you deeply...

 

Visitation will be held both Thursday and Friday, March 31st & 32nd at the Healey Mortuary Chapel, 405 N. Sanborn Rd.,  Salinas, CA

Celebration of the Funeral Mass wilkl be held Monday March 25, 2024 at 10 AM at Madonna Del Sasso Church, 320 e. Laurel Dr., Sainas, CA

Burial with Military Honors willbe held Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 10 AM at California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery, Seaside, CA
