Obituary of Lila Albertson

Lila Albertson passed away in her home, surrounded by her loved ones on August 6, 2010. She was a loving wife and the love of her husband's Don's life for 62 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lila is survived by Don, 4 devoted daughters, Kathy (Henry) Demeuth, Michele (Tony) Gutierrez, Lisa (Dale) Mitchell, Karen (Tokio) Haruta, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her sister Della Banks, her brothers Delmar and James Wittenhagen Lila was born January 17, 1930 in Epihany, South Dakota. She lived in many places throughout her and Don's 34 years with the U.S. Army. They settled in Salinas, CA in 1973. Lila had been a Red Cross Volunteer for many years and continued her service to others through her involvement with Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church. Lila was an active member of the Altar Society, a Eucharistic minister and a Lector. Her life was a reflection of service to others, a living example of courage and faith. She was a mother figure to many people. Lila was an avid gardner, often saying she was one of God's gardners here on Earth. She greatly missed working in her gardens when prevented by her illness. Lila never gave up in her battle against cancer. She was the cornerstone of her family. She will be terribly missed but will remain in her family's hearts and wil be remembered by many friends.
