Al was my friend and the best drummer I ever played with. I miss him. We had a lot of good times and made some good music.

I will always remember the profound words you had to share with me from the openness and warmth of your heart, whenever mine was hurting. The memories of you, your natural born talent, and kind and gentle soul, will live on with us forever. Your love for people and for your music was very much a part of who you were. We love you Al and though we miss you now, we will see you again.

When I worked at Gadsby's back in the mid-70's, I knew Al as a great drummer and a real nice guy. He always had a smile on his face, and took the time to look me up and say hi. I have good memories of Al. It goes without saying, he will be missed. Gary Richards

I loved Al and met him through my aunt, Judy. It was right around the time that the OJ Simpson trial had started and since he drove a big white van, I teased him and called him "Al Cowlings" when I saw him and asked if he knew where OJ was. He always laughed! And man, what a drummer! He will be missed very deeply. With much love, thought and prayer, Julie

Al was a great drummer, but more importantly, he was a true friend. He had such a great "soul" and loving spirit. He will truly be missed.

We are going to greatly miss a beautiful, compassionate, and talented man. I guess that it's true that "only the good die young". I'll never forget the nights of us taking turns between sets playing drums. You even let me use your "good" snare too. I'll always remember that chat we shared talking about music, life and how much Judy & Dino meant the world to you. You meant the world to us, with your smile, heart, love and your humor. I still laugh about when we would tease you about finding the Beatles Christmas album looking through bins of CD's at the record stores. Al, you've just joined the greatest band in heaven. You've put your life in the music, and the music lives on.
